Wieskirche church

- World famous rococo pilgrimage church
The Wieskirche church is one of the most beautiful rococo churches in the world. The pilgrimage church stands “on the field” in the truest sense raised upon a small hill. Built in the 18th century, it is opulently decorated with frescoes, cherubs, altars and pillars. Further information including opening hours can be found here.

St. Coloman Church
- Near Schwangau (approx. 20 minutes by car)
- Spectacular secluded location with panoramic views of the castles

Nestled in a spectacular secluded location amid the meadows at the foot of Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the pilgrimage church built in honour of the Irish monk and martyr St. Coloman. An impressive festival is the annual Colomansritt which includes an ordination of the horses and marquee in the autumn.

Highline179
- Near Reutte/Tyrol (approx. 25 minutes by car)
- Spectacular suspension bridge
- 114 metres high
A cable bridge spans the valley high above the Fernpassstraße B179. The footbridge connects the Ehrenberg ruins with Claudia fort. Brave visitors can take the opportunity to cross the valley at a dizzying height. Tickets can be purchased from the Ehrenberg Castle ticket centre or directly from the bridge’s.

Culture awaits with every step in the city of lute and violin makers, Gothic patrician homes, romantic mediaeval streets and magnificent churches. Visitors can watch the hustle and bustle while sitting in one of the many outdoor cafés.

Lechtal valley
- The Lechtal valley goes from Reutte (approx. 25 km) to Holzgau (approx. 62 km)

With its extensive gravel banks, the Lech is home to many rare species of plants and animals. A number of quaint towns have settled along the river which are worth a visit.

Maria Hilf pilgrimage church
- Located in Speiden just 3 km from Hopferau
- Rococo gem from the 17th century
The Maria Hilf pilgrimage church, a rococo gem is particularly worth seeing and ornately decorated. Right next door is the chapel of mercy which was built out of gratitude for the salvation of his child from a small farmer in Speiden in the 17th century.

Irsee monastery

The first church was consecrated in 1195. Today the richly decorated Maria Himmelfahrt monastery church flaunts its splendour above Irsee.

Discover the history of Kaufbeuren on an exciting tour of the city. Also great for shopping, not least because of the famous Neugablonzer costume jewellery and the unique atmosphere of the Kaufbeur Christmas market.

The Allgäu metropolis is a city rich in history and is one of the oldest cities in Germany, dating back to the Romans. Museums, the historic centre and pedestrian zone offer visitors a breath of city air. Enjoy a delicious ice cream in summer and the cosy atmosphere of the Christmas market in the Advent season – in Kempten, there is always something going on.

Instead of driving, we recommend a comfortable train ride – ideally with the Bayern Ticket from the Deutsche Bahn – in the state capital. This way, visitors can take a day trip to the famous “northernmost city in Italy” using green and affordable transportation without the hassle of searching for parking.

Innsbruck

Innsbruck, the cultural centre of Tyrol is only 108 km away. Another of the famous points of interest is the “Das Goldene Dachl” (Golden Roof). Home to the annual Four Hills Tournament held on Isel mountain. Just a few kilometres from Innsbruck to South Tyrol.
